I Reviewed Top AI Visibility Tracking Tools (Here Are My Findings)

When a user asks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews or Microsoft Copilot or any other dozens of AI chatbots for a recommendation related to your produces or services, does your brand get recommended by the AI? AI visibility tracking tools help you answer that question. They identify the prompts your prospective clients could use to find you and run them against each chatbot and store which brands are mentioned and cited, and show how you stack up against your competitors over time.

So traditional ranking tracking measures rankings and traffic from traditional search engines. AI visibility, on the other hand, measures whether AI-generated answers mention and cite your brand. However, the two can overlap, and a great AI Visibility is usually a product of great SEO or is built on a great SEO foundation as strong content and well established brand authority help both.

I in this blog post, I will go over some of the important AI visibility tracking platforms that keep coming up in Google and Bing results for “best AI visibility tracking tools,”. I will checked each vendor’s own site for current features and pricing, and included our own product, Qer.ai.

Disclosure: Qer.ai is built by the team behind Allintitle, so we have listed it first and kept the same criteria for every tool.

What Are AI Visibility Tracking Tools?

AI visibility tools (also called AI search monitoring, GEO or answer engine optimization tools) track and measure how a brand appears inside AI-generated answers. Most of these tools report a handful of core metrics such as:

  • Visibility: how often your brand is mentioned in the AI answers for the prompts you track
  • Share of voice: your share of mentions compared with your direct competitors appearing in the answers at the same time
  • Citations: which webpages or videos the AI cites as sources for its answers
  • Sentiment and position: when the AI mentions your brand, how positively or negatively your brand is described in relation to the services and products you provide
  • Recommendations: suggested actions to improve your visibility, tackle any negative or inaccurate association made about your brand and closing visibility gaps with the competitors

What Criteria You Should Use in Choosing the Right AI Visibility Tool?

Here are some criteria that can help you choose the best platform for your specific needs:

  1. Engines you need: check that the AI engines your customers use are included or sold as an add-on.
  2. Prompt count: number of prompt-engine slots you will monitor are the main pricing lever followed with number of brands, number of users, so estimate how many prompt-engine slots you will need and for how many brands.
  3. Tracking frequency: AI answers can change a lot between runs, so daily checks can provide a better picture over the your visibility trends. A tool like Qer.ai also provides how much an answer’s meaning differs between the runs and engines.
  4. Brands and users: agencies should compare brand limits and per-seat fees.
  5. Recommendations: look for citation and gap analysis that tells you what to fix.

One note is that don’t solely rely on the prompts that your favourite visibility tracking tool suggest, use them as the baseline but you know your and customers better than anyone else, so customize your prompts to track the ones that are the most important driver of business for your brand. You can use your Google Search Console or Google Analytics account to find out what questions people ask in AI chatbots to find you, Microsoft clarity and Bing Webmaster Tools are also great tools to find prompts that your business is already getting mentioned for.

Another place to find out which prompts you should track is the search engine’s People Also Ask feature, a tool like Allintitle’s Also Ask Miner is great free tool you can use to gather Also Ask Questions not just from Google but from Bing and Yahoo People Also Ask sections.
